BILL are a band.
Bill comes to the sessions
saturday and sunday Bill was finally Here for some Recording. saturday Daren Drummed for a few pieces-- a happy-Blues, a bluesy, kind-of Stonesy number based on an Eric demo (even tho Eric Wasn't Here), and something we're calling 'lock-step' for now, which is another one of my Anti-Song-form pieces.
then Bill recorded some drum tracks. we had to Re-work the kit and the Seat a bit, as his Legs are so short compared to Darens, but we got some Fun-Bits. at one point Greg suggested maybe Bill could play with his Hands instead of the sticks, which produced a cool Little-piece.
the next day, it was just Bill and me, and i Lowered the drum-Seat all the way which seemed to work Best. really, i Need also to Find or Make some 2/3rd-length drum-Sticks for Bill, as the Regular-sizes are just too long, considering how close he winds up getting to the drum-Kit in order to properly operate the kick-drum.
we worked on a specific gRoove, with me on a Guitar, playing with him in the room. i plan on Editing the Best-Parts of it together, and then we'll see what we want to do with it.
then we went back to the saturday drums Bill Recorded, and we added more StuFf to those tracks. first Bill said that he wanted to add Bass, so i took 2 Strings off of a basse, and Tuned the remaining 2 to the same-Note, an Octave-apart. Fretting guitares or bass is Tough for Bill, because his individual Finger-Coördination isn't very-Goode. his Rhythm hand is fabulous, tho. i Figured that keeping a lot of this stufF in A-minor would make it easy for him to Play Keyboarde parts later: he could hit any of the White-Keys and it would sound-Good. he did wind up adding some Fretted bass-Parts to some of it anyway.
then i suggested some different instruments he might want to try, and He used All of them. an Olde casio synthe, an Upright piano, and a Glockenspiel. later we will probably add some More Percussion, Maybe a Theremin and some other Thinges.
Mike was there to Shoot the Whole Thinge for Both-Days, which was Great and Wonderful. Sorry that i Don't have any Photographes; you'll have to Wait for the Documentary, i suppose!
We will likely have Another Drum-Day, but Before-Then we will get on To adding Basses and Guitars from our Regular-Playeres.
